Safeguarding the Nation's Wealth
The Namiba Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA) was established by an Act of Parliament (NAMFISA Act No. 3 of 2001).
NAMFISA's functions of regulating and supervising the non-banking financial industry of Namibia, previously resided under the Ministry of Finance and was fully funded by the Government of the Republic of Namibia.
Government commercialised this non-core function of the Ministry of Finance as a firm commitment to further improve the financial soundness of the Namibian non-banking financial industry and to secure protection for all stakeholders in the industry, including consumers.
NAMFISA is non-profit, autonomous entity which is fully funded by the industry it regulates via levies imposed on those companies.
