1. GET ORGANISED<\/h3><\/span><\/div>
Set up three bins for your waste: plant and food, recyclable (glass, plastic and metal) and non-recyclable. This will make the whole process easy from the get-go.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

2. COMPOST WHAT YOU DON\u2019T EAT<\/h3><\/span><\/div>
Leftover fruits, vegetables, egg shells, potato peels, etc. can be turned into a compost heap to grow more veggies in your own backyard. Not only do you cut down on waste and help the environment, but you save money at the store, too.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

3. TWO SIDES TO THE PAPER STORY<\/h3><\/span><\/div>
Paper doesn\u2019t need to be thrown away as soon as one side has been used. Start a scrap paper tray or drawer and always have paper to doodle or take notes on without having to chop down a tree.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

4. THAT\u2019S A WRAP<\/h3><\/span><\/div>
Wrap presents in old newspapers. Not only will they have a unique charm, but it won\u2019t cost anything if it\u2019s a paper you\u2019ve already bought to read. Besides, have you seen how expensive wrapping paper is?<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

5. PLASTIC BAGS<\/h3><\/span><\/div>
Plastic shopping bags can either be taken back to the store to be reused the next time you go shopping, or keep them in the cupboard for whenever you need to line your bins.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

6. RUINED CLOTHING<\/h3><\/span><\/div>
Have clothing too damaged to give away or mend? Cut the garment up into squares and write their purposes on them in marker. Now you have individual rags to clean the toilet, your car, the walls, or anything else with.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

7. GLASS JARS<\/h3><\/span><\/div>
Sure you can put glass jars in with the recyclables, but why not try and find some use for them around the house? Glass jars are amazing for storing other foods in (after a good wash) and for keeping loose items together and organised.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

8. RINSE FIRST<\/h3><\/span><\/div>
Remember when recycling plastic or glass bottles, tubs or jars, to rinse out the container beforehand. This is especially considerate with milk containers.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

9. RECYCLE YOUR OWN WATER<\/h3><\/span><\/div>
If you use an environmentally friendly dishwashing soap or body wash, you can reuse your dish or bath water in your garden.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

10. DONATE<\/h3><\/span><\/div>
Just because you won\u2019t ever wear or use it, doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s trash. Clothes, scented soaps, or just about anything else can be donated if not wanted or needed. Help someone out and free up some space around the house in one noble move.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

11. BUY SECOND-HAND<\/h3><\/span><\/div>
In the same vein as donating, why buy something new when you can buy it second-hand? If those jeans are in good condition, there\u2019s no need to pay three times the amount just to have it \u201cnew\u201d, is there? Second-hand books are also really great buys.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
